The Minnesota Music Archive Project’s goal is to create a repository for every independent and small commercial recording released by Minnesota musicians. Ambitious? Yes, but important and necessary to secure Minnesota’s rich musical legacy for generations to come.
What is this all about?
The Minnesota Music Archive Project aims to create an archive of all available independent and small commercial recordings in order to preserve them for the future.
This project is not about Prince, Bob Dylan or the more well-known artists from MN. Their legacies are assured. Our focus is on the rest, the not so known local musicians that were part of creating the rich local music scene Minnesota is known for.

How It Works
Initially, all submissions will be added to the Minnesota Music Archive’s offline repository for archival purposes. Artists and labels will be able to choose to make their contributions available to the public free of charge, or for a fee. We are working on future inclusion of the Archive within the major streaming services that provide for royalty accounting and payments.
Submissions can be dropped-off Tuesdays and Saturdays from noon-3pm at HiFi Hair and Records across from the Basilica in downtown Minneapolis. Online submission are coming soon
